Bestal’s Louvre Mesh was used as the facade for the Jurong West Hawker Centre and Market. Louvre Mesh allows for ample ventilation and light, yet shields visitors from heavy rain and harsh sunlight. Expanded metal used as rain screens also protect and extend the life of building claddings, reducing the need for maintenance in the long-term. Enveloping the market in Louvre mesh also helped to provide nearby residents with greater privacy.
